Reddit sessions on a local profile

I keep brand Reddit in a local profile that is only brand Reddit. Personal scrolling stays out. Mod tools stay out if that is a different account. Ads Manager stays out if that is a different job. No karma farm.

The useful caveat: this is isolation for Reddit work you are allowed to do. I will not write how to age accounts or farm karma. Local Windows notes only.

What the folder actually isolates

Reddit stores the login in cookies. Two accounts in one Chrome profile are one store. MaskWright 0.1 gives each profile its own user-data-dir on Windows 10/11. profiles.json is encrypted. The Chromium tree is not. No seats. No cloud sync. Bring your own HTTP or SOCKS5 if that account already uses an exit.

Brand versus personal versus mod versus ads

Same human can own more than one of those. Same cookie store should not. The Facebook sibling is personal versus business.

Access for other people is an official invite or a shared password manager entry they use as themselves, not a cookie dump. Facebook page roles, not cookie dumps is the same rule on Meta. Reddit's permission model is coarser. I still do not mail user-data-dir.

Headed browsing versus the API

If I am collecting public data Reddit already allows through the official API, I use the API. If I am reading threads as a person, I use a headed profile. Reddit API versus headed browsing. I do not hide a scraper in the brand folder.

Limits are still limits

Facebook spend caps taught the same lesson. Facebook ads account limits are business facts. A Reddit restriction is not a fingerprint puzzle. I will not write a bypass.

How I set the brand profile

Empty cookies. Chromium core I will keep. Locale that matches the community I actually serve, or the household. Official sign-in. 2FA on a device I hold. No unofficial "karma" extensions.

If the desk also runs LinkedIn company pages, that is another folder. LinkedIn company pages on one PC. Wide monitors are not an excuse to mix logins.

On a real Windows desk

Brand Reddit is acme-reddit in the list. I launch it, post or reply as the brand, export nothing, and close it. I do not leave old.reddit open overnight on a shared tower with modmail from a different account in another tab of the same profile. That is the mix this page exists to stop.

If the brand already uses an HTTP or SOCKS5 exit, I geo-check before login. Language can follow the exit. If the community is local to the office, I skip the proxy. I do not attach a rotating datacenter line under a login I need to keep.

Markdown drafts and image uploads that belong in ops go to a repo or a drive share, not into the profile's download tray. OneDrive on Desktop is how two profiles "separate" and then meet again.

2FA is the authenticator on a phone I hold. I do not store backup codes in the Chromium profile folder.

FAQ

Can I run two brand accounts in one profile if I switch users?

Reddit's account switcher still leaves residue I do not want. I use two folders when the brands must not share history, ads pixels, or downloads.

Do I need a proxy for brand Reddit?

Only if that brand already uses one. A household IP is normal for work you are allowed to do from that house. MaskWright does not bundle exits.

Is this an automation tool?

No. No Playwright product. Bulk start opens profiles you already run. A person still posts.

What about old.reddit versus new?

Use whichever UI you already work in. Isolation does not depend on the skin. It depends on the cookie store.

Keep brand Reddit in one local folder. Keep mod, ads, and personal apart when those are different jobs. Invite people. Do not farm karma in a second folder.
